Niddel sponsored what is arguably the most prestigious information security conference focused on a corporate audience in Latin America, the São Paulo edition of Mind The Sec. The two day event had 970 attendees mostly from large organizations in Brazil and neighboring countries, 45 speak sessions and 7 panel discussions. This year's edition had keynote addresses from Eugene Kaspersky, CEO and Co-Founder at Kaspersky Lab, and Stuart McClure, Founder and CEO at Cylance.
The sponsorship format was innovative, according to Niddel's longstanding principle of providing valuable technical content instead of the usual marketing and sales pitches our industry is (in)famous for. So instead of a booth and the usual sponsorship perks, we negotiated something unique with Flipside, the conference organizer. Niddel ran a separate technical track of the conference called Trilha Vanguarda (loosely translatable as "Cutting Edge Track").
Our track featured the following sessions:
Finally, we had a panel to discuss the unique constraints and challenges of implementing security monitoring, threat intelligence and threat hunting processes in Brazil with the following distinguished panelists:
The audience response was impressive, and the track was standing room only for practically all the sessions. This clearly demonstrates how the speaker lineup and subject matter touched a nerve with the local market.
Developing countries face some unique challenges when it comes to security. Targeted regional threats that are often not properly understood globally are compounded by distinct cultural and legal challenges. The Cutting Edge Track partnership with Niddel was very successful in providing attendees with forward-looking information about real issues and techniques they can use in their organizations. It was a breakthrough for us and a wake up call to the industry. - Anderson Ramos, Co-Founder and CTO at Flipside
